The Spectrum Recital Review

By Jason · January 12, 2009 · Filed in reviews · 2 Comments »

The Saint George Spectrum did a review of my recital last week. The full review can be seen here.

One correction from the article:

As a former member of such renowned orchestras as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Bonham has performed in concert with some of the great performers of this generation.

I was never a full-time member of the orchestras listed. I was a substitute. Although, with the Chicago Symphony I had won something beyond that, more of a permanent sub-spot that was contingent on my first performances. But, I injured my hand nearly immediately after winning the audition. But probably for non-musicians it’s all the same?

Anyway, thanks to JJ Abernathy who wrote a very flattering piece, and all those who were kind enough to attend the recital.

My Recital

By Jason · January 3, 2009 · Filed in recital video · 19 Comments »

Last night I gave my first public recital since May of 2003! It was pretty exciting, and I was happy with it. Considering it’s been only four months since I picked up the viola again after quitting for a year and half, I was pretty happy with how everything went.

My pianist was Justin Hansen who did a fantastic job, and Urs Rutishauser accompanied me on the violin for the Mozart Duo. Urs has been a wonderful help with getting my musical ears open and showing me the world of chamber music.
